About the Watchmaker

Since graduating from the Gem City College School of Horology in 2014, I have maintained a relentless focus on technical excellence. My career has been defined by high-level mentorship and a passion for the mechanical soul of a timepiece.

By blending the traditional techniques of vintage horology with the cutting-edge standards of modern luxury brands, I provide a level of service that ensures every watch performs at its peak. Whether restoring a rare family heirloom or servicing a modern masterpiece, my work is guided by the same principle: uncompromising quality.

My Story

My career began at the heavy-duty end of mechanics. Starting in 2012 as a millwright and aluminum welder, I developed a foundational understanding of metalwork and machining—skills that would later become the bedrock of my watchmaking career.

My path shifted when I observed an antique pocket watch disassembled on the bench of Bob Potter, a master watchmaker in my Kansas hometown. That glimpse into the intricate world of micro-mechanics sparked a lifelong pursuit of horological excellence. In 2013, I transitioned from industrial fabrication to formal study at the Gem City School of Horology in Quincy, Illinois. Under the guidance of instructor Jim Hush, I began the rigorous process of honing the patience and precision required for fine watchmaking.

Following my formal education, I refined my expertise at the Illinois Watch Company under the tutelage of Craig Stone, CMW21. There, I specialized in the restoration of vintage American pocket watches, learning to respect the history within every movement. My journey eventually led me to Kansas City, where I spent a decade working at Tivol Jewelers, an Official Rolex Jeweler (ORJ), under Master Watchmaker Sham Agayev. Collaborating with a team of elite watchmakers, I serviced a diverse range of timepieces—from 19th-century pocket watches to modern high-complication luxury watches.

Today, as an independent watchmaker, my focus is the preservation and restoration of antique and vintage timepieces. I believe that a watch is more than a tool; it is a piece of history and a family legacy. My mission is to ensure these mechanical heirlooms are meticulously serviced so they may be enjoyed and appreciated for generations to come.

“There’s something one should expect not only of a watch, but also of oneself: to never stand still”

-Walter Lange
